Why High-End Dishwasher Repair Is Not the Same Job
- Proprietary drying systems require brand-specific knowledge - Bosch CrystalDry uses a zeolite mineral that absorbs moisture and converts it to heat — a system that doesn't exist in any other brand. Miele's condensation drying with AutoOpen uses a door mechanism that cracks open at the end of the cycle. Thermador's StarDry shares the Bosch zeolite platform but with different calibration. Diagnosing a drying failure means knowing which technology the unit uses and which specific component within that system has failed.
- Flood protection systems are engineered differently across brands - Bosch uses AquaStop — a double-walled supply hose with an electromagnetic shutoff valve that triggers when the base pan float switch detects water. Miele uses their Waterproof System with a similar float switch but a different valve design. When the flood protection activates, it locks out the entire machine. Resetting it isn't just about drying the base pan — the float switch, the valve, and the triggering condition all need to be diagnosed and cleared correctly, or the lockout returns.
- Panel-ready installation adds a layer of service complexity - On a standard dishwasher, you open the door and start working. On a fully integrated panel-ready unit, a custom cabinetry panel adds 15–25 pounds to the door, changes the hinge geometry, and covers the mounting screws. Why is my Bosch or Thermador dishwasher not draining?
A Bosch or Thermador dishwasher that won't drain and shows an E24 or E25 error code usually has a clogged drain filter, a blocked drain hose, or a failing drain pump motor. Both brands use the same BSH platform, so the E-code system and internal drain path are similar. We diagnose which component actually failed rather than replacing the entire pump assembly when only the filter or hose needs clearing.
Why is my dishwasher leaking water on the floor?
Water on the floor under a dishwasher most commonly traces to a failed door seal, a cracked spray arm, a loose drain hose clamp, or an activated flood protection system (AquaStop on Bosch, Waterproof System on Miele). On panel-ready units, even a small leak can damage surrounding cabinetry and flooring before it becomes visible — which is why we recommend addressing leaks immediately.
What does error code E15 mean on my Bosch dishwasher?
E15 on a Bosch or Thermador dishwasher means the flood protection system has detected water in the base pan. This can be caused by a leaking internal hose, a failed pump seal, a cracked sump, or a spray arm that has come loose. The base pan needs to be inspected and dried, the leak source repaired, and the float switch reset. Simply tilting the unit to drain the pan — a common DIY suggestion — does not fix the underlying leak.
Why are my dishes still dirty after a full cycle?
Dishes that come out dirty, spotty, or greasy usually point to a clogged spray arm, a worn wash pump impeller, low water temperature, a failed heating element, or a hard water deposit buildup in the spray arm nozzles.
