What to Have Ready
Before You Call

A two-minute head start saves a lot of back and forth. Built-in appliances vary widely between model lines, and the right part often depends on a single digit in the model number. Here is what helps us the most.


Brand and model number

The model number tells us which platform the unit is built on and which parts fit it.

What is the issue

What the appliance is doing, any error code on the display, and any sounds or leaks you have noticed.

When it started

A problem that appeared overnight points somewhere different than one that has been building for weeks.

Built-in, panel-ready, or freestanding

Installation type affects access, and knowing it in advance means we arrive prepared for the job in front of us.

Where to Find the Model Number

Cannot find it? Call anyway. We can usually narrow it down from the appliance type and how it is installed.

Refrigerator
On most built-in refrigerators the rating tag is behind the top grille or on the interior ceiling, near the light. On column and French door models, check the upper side wall of the fresh food section.
Oven
Open the oven door and look along the frame of the oven opening, on the left or right side, or on the underside of the control panel. On double wall ovens, check the frame of the upper oven first.
Freezer and Beverage Cooler
On freezer columns and drawers, look on the interior side wall or ceiling. On undercounter beverage coolers, the tag is usually on the upper interior side wall or behind the front grille at the toe-kick.
Dishwasher
Open the door and look along the top or side edge of the inner door, or on the side wall of the tub. On panel-ready models the tag stays on the door edge or tub wall, not behind the custom panel.
Range and Cooktop
On ranges, open the oven door or pull out the bottom drawer and check the frame. On built-in cooktops, the tag is on the underside of the unit, visible from the cabinet below. On rangetops, check under the front control panel or behind the drip tray.
Washer and Dryer
Open the door and check the door frame or the rim of the door opening. On stacked laundry, each machine has its own tag, so note both numbers.
