Freedom Induction is Thermador's full-surface induction cooktop. Instead of fixed zones, dozens of induction coils sit under the entire glass, so you can place a pan anywhere and the cooktop activates only the coils beneath it. For a repair, that design means a fault is usually localized: one section going cold points to a specific coil or its inverter board, not the whole surface. We map the cooktop to find which coils have failed, so the repair targets the dead area instead of replacing everything.

Because full-surface induction is built from many individual coils. On Thermador Freedom and Liberty cooktops, each part of the surface is powered by its own coil and inverter section, so when one coil or its board fails, you get a localized dead spot while the rest of the surface heats normally. It almost never means the whole cooktop has failed. We identify the specific coil or inverter section behind the dead area and replace only what is needed.

Yes. The glass-ceramic surface on Thermador induction and electric cooktops is a replaceable part, but it is model-specific: a Thermador top is not interchangeable with another BSH brand like Bosch, even though they share a parent company. Replacement means lifting the cooktop from the countertop cutout, disassembling the frame, fitting the new OEM surface, and reinstalling without damaging the surrounding stone or cabinetry. A Thermador cooktop installs flush into a countertop cutout, slim, with electronic or knob controls on the surface. A Thermador rangetop has the full-depth chassis and heavy grates of a professional range but no oven beneath it, so it looks like the top of a pro range.
