  • Heat pump technology is fundamentally different from traditional dryers - A heat pump dryer works on a closed-loop refrigeration cycle: a compressor circulates refrigerant through an evaporator (which absorbs moisture from the air) and a condenser (which reheats the dried air). There is no heating element and no exhaust vent. Diagnosing a drying failure on a heat pump unit requires understanding compressor performance, refrigerant charge, evaporator and condenser coil condition, and airflow management — none of which exist on a traditional dryer.
  • Gas dryer repair adds a safety dimension - Gas dryers use a gas valve assembly, igniter, and flame sensor to produce heat. When a gas dryer won't heat, the repair involves gas-specific components and requires verifying safe gas flow, proper ignition sequence, and correct combustion after the repair. Improper gas valve adjustment or a failed igniter replacement that doesn't account for flame sensor timing is a safety hazard.

Why is my dryer not heating?
