If your Miele dishwasher will not drain, is leaking, leaves dishes wet or dirty, or shows an F-code, the symptom rarely names the failed part. Miele’s own wash and drying systems, AutoDos dispensing, AutoOpen drying, and the Waterproof flood-protection system each add components a standard technician rarely sees.
The two Miele systems that cause the most confusion are drying and flood protection. AutoOpen dries by cracking the door open at the end of the cycle to let moisture escape, so wet dishes can mean the door mechanism or the fan, not the cycle you chose. And when the Waterproof System detects water in the base, it locks out the whole machine, and clearing that lockout means diagnosing the float switch, the valve, and the leak source, not just drying the pan.
Most Miele dishwashers here are fully integrated behind a custom cabinetry panel. That panel adds weight to the door, changes the hinge geometry, and covers the mounting screws. Pump or motor access means detaching the panel without scratching it and reinstalling flush. That is routine for us, and it is where generalist services damage finishes.
Miele Dishwasher Models We Repair
We service the full Miele G-series dishwasher lineup, from fully integrated panel-ready units to freestanding models.
-
Miele G-Series Fully Integrated Dishwashers
The custom cabinetry panel covers the entire door, with controls on the top edge. Service means removing the unit from its slot without damaging the panel or adjacent cabinetry.
-
Miele Semi-Integrated Dishwashers
Custom door panel with a visible control strip along the top, so the controls are diagnosed in place while access matches the fully integrated units.
-
Miele Freestanding Dishwashers
Standard front-control G-series models with a Miele front. Simpler access with no custom panel to manage, sharing the same internal wash and drying systems.
-
Miele AutoDos Models with PowerDisk
Dishwashers with automatic detergent dosing from a PowerDisk. Poor wash results on these can trace to the AutoDos dispenser rather than the pump or spray arms.
Common Miele Dishwasher Problems We Diagnose and Fix
Most Miele dishwasher calls trace back to draining, drying, flood protection, or a wash fault. Here is what each symptom usually means.
Not Draining or Standing Water
Standing water usually points to a clogged filter or drain hose, a jammed drain pump, or a blocked drain path. We clear and test the full drain path rather than replacing the pump on a guess.
F-Code on the Display
Miele F-codes are specific: F12 points to a water intake problem, F11 to a drain fault, and the table can change across G-series generations. We read the code against the documentation for your exact model before diagnosing the part.
Machine Locked Out by the Waterproof System
When Miele's Waterproof System detects water in the base, it locks the machine and will not run. Clearing it means finding and fixing the leak, then resetting the float switch and valve, not just drying the pan.
Dishes Not Drying (AutoOpen)
AutoOpen dries by opening the door at the end of the cycle. Wet dishes usually mean the AutoOpen mechanism is not releasing, or the fan is not running, rather than the cycle setting. We test the drying system directly.
Dishes Coming Out Dirty
Poor cleaning usually means a clogged spray arm, a worn circulation pump, low water temperature, or, on AutoDos models, a dispenser not releasing detergent. Hard-water scale in the nozzles is common here. We check the spray arms, pump, and dispenser together.
Will Not Start, Leaks, or Detergent Not Dispensing
A no-start usually traces to the door latch or controls, a leak to the door seal or a hose, and a dispenser fault to the AutoDos unit or the detergent door. We isolate each before replacing a part.

What is Miele AutoOpen drying, and why are my dishes still wet?
AutoOpen is Miele's drying system. Instead of a heating element, the door automatically pops open a few inches at the end of the cycle so moisture escapes and the dishes air-dry with the residual heat. When dishes come out wet on an AutoOpen model, the usual cause is that the door-release mechanism is not opening, the fan that assists drying has failed, or the rinse aid is empty, rather than the cycle you selected. We test the AutoOpen mechanism and the fan directly to find the fault.
Why is my Miele dishwasher locked out and will not start?
Miele's Waterproof System is a flood-protection design. When it detects water in the base of the machine, it shuts the dishwasher down and locks it out so it cannot keep running and flooding the kitchen. Clearing the lockout is not just a matter of drying the base pan: the water got there from somewhere, usually a leaking hose, a failed pump seal, or a cracked sump, and that leak has to be found and repaired. Then the float switch and valve are reset. If only the pan is dried, the lockout comes right back.
What does an F12 code mean on my Miele dishwasher?
F12 on a Miele dishwasher points to a water intake problem, meaning the machine is not getting the water it expects. Common causes are a closed or restricted supply valve, a kinked or blocked inlet hose, a clogged inlet screen, or a failing water inlet valve. The exact meaning can shift slightly across G-series generations, so we confirm the code against the service documentation for your model, then test the water path from the supply to the valve before replacing anything.
Do you service Miele AutoDos and the PowerDisk dispenser?
Yes. AutoDos is Miele's automatic detergent system, which doses detergent from a PowerDisk cartridge across the cycle instead of a single scoop. When wash results drop off on an AutoDos model, the dispenser motor, the PowerDisk sensor, or the dosing mechanism is often the cause rather than the pump or spray arms. We diagnose the AutoDos system against the wash performance to find whether the fault is dosing or cleaning.
