A Viking range is really several appliances in one body. The burners, the oven, and, on larger models, a griddle each run on their own system, even though they share one control panel. So a fault in one rarely means a fault in the others, and fixing the range starts with pinning down which system actually failed.
Burner problems are the most common call and the most misread. A burner that clicks but will not light is usually a clogged orifice or a blocked venturi tube, not a dead igniter. A burner that runs fine on high but will not hold a low flame is almost always VariSimmer valve calibration, again, not the igniter. Swapping the igniter on either one wastes a visit.
Gas raises the stakes. A misdiagnosed gas fault is a safety issue, not just an inconvenience, so we test spark and gas flow separately and confirm the real cause before touching a part. Dual fuel and induction models add electric oven and cooktop electronics to the picture, which we diagnose on their own circuits.
Viking Range Models We Repair
We service every Viking range configuration, from dual fuel and all-gas to fully electric and induction, in 30- to 60-inch widths.
-
Viking Dual Fuel Range
Gas burners on top paired with an electric convection oven below in 30 to 60 inch widths. We service burner ignition, gas valves, and the oven's electronics as separate systems.
-
Viking Gas Range
All-gas configuration with VariSimmer burner control and a gas convection oven. Common service points are igniters, gas valve assemblies, and oven temperature sensors.
-
Viking Electric Range
Radiant heating elements beneath a glass surface, paired with the same TruConvec convection oven. Service covers the heating elements, surface sensors, and control board, not gas ignition.
-
Viking Induction Range
Induction cooking zones with a convection oven and no gas components. Service covers induction coils, inverter boards, and touch controls, alongside the oven electronics.

Common Viking Range Problems We Diagnose and Fix
Most Viking range calls come down to a burner, the oven, or the griddle. Here is what each symptom usually points to.
Burner Not Lighting or Lighting Weakly
Clicking with no flame, or a weak flame, usually points to a clogged orifice, a blocked venturi tube, or a gas valve issue, not always the igniter. We test spark and gas flow separately to find the real fault.
Burner Will Not Hold a Low Simmer
VariSimmer relies on precise valve calibration, not just the igniter. A burner that runs fine on high but jumps or dies on low usually needs that calibration, not a new igniter.
Range Oven Not Reaching or Holding Temperature
In the oven cavity, off temperature usually traces to a drifting sensor, a weak bake element or igniter, or a convection fan not circulating air. We compare real cavity temperature to the setting first.
Uneven or Yellow Flame Across Burners
Flames that differ from burner to burner, or burn yellow instead of blue, point to clogged ports, an air-shutter adjustment, or a gas-pressure issue. We clean, adjust, and verify a clean blue burn.
Griddle Trough Clogging or Not Draining (48 and 60 inch)
On large ranges the grease trough can back up when residue blocks the channel to the tray. Usually maintenance, but if the trough is clear and the griddle heats unevenly, the fault shifts to its element or burner.
Ignition Clicking That Will Not Stop
An igniter that keeps clicking after the burner lights, or a control panel that will not respond, points to a spark module, a wet or misaligned igniter, or a control fault. We isolate the cause before replacing parts.

Why won't my Viking range burner light?
When the igniter clicks but no flame appears, the problem is usually in the gas path, not the spark. A clogged burner orifice, a blocked venturi tube, or a gas valve that is not opening are the common causes. We test spark generation and gas flow separately so we can see exactly which part of the ignition path has failed instead of replacing the igniter on a guess.
Why won't my Viking range burner hold a low simmer?
This is almost always VariSimmer valve calibration rather than an igniter fault. Viking's VariSimmer system holds a very low flame through precise valve control, so when a burner lights fine on high but jumps or dies on low, the valve calibration has usually drifted. We recalibrate or replace the valve so the burner holds a steady simmer again.
I smell gas near my Viking range. What should I do?
Treat it as urgent. Do not operate the range, light a flame, or use electrical switches. If you can safely reach the shutoff valve, turn off the gas, open windows, and leave the home. Call your gas utility or 911 from outside first. Once the area has been cleared as safe, call us at (949) 806-3916, and we will find and fix the source, whether a loose fitting, a worn valve, or an igniter that let gas escape. A gas smell is never a repair to postpone.
Do you repair all Viking range fuel types?
Yes. We service Viking gas, dual fuel, electric, and induction ranges. The cooktop side differs a great deal between them, gas burners, radiant elements, and induction coils each need a different diagnosis, while the convection oven electronics are similar across the line. Tell us your model when you book so the right approach and any likely parts are ready before we arrive.
