If your Bosch dishwasher will not drain, is leaking, leaves dishes wet or dirty, or shows an E-code, the symptom rarely names the failed part. Bosch’s own drying and flood-protection systems, CrystalDry and AquaStop, each add components a standard technician rarely sees.
The two Bosch systems that cause the most confusion are drying and flood protection. CrystalDry uses a zeolite mineral to absorb moisture and turn it into heat for drying, a system no other brand except Thermador uses, so wet dishes usually mean the zeolite heating element or its fan, not the cycle you chose. And AquaStop shuts the machine down and locks it out when its base-pan float switch senses water, so clearing an E15 lockout means finding the leak, not just drying the pan.
Bosch shares the BSH platform with Thermador, so many internal parts and E-codes overlap, but the control software and features differ by model. And most Bosch units here are fully integrated behind a custom cabinetry panel that adds weight to the door and covers the mounting screws. Pump or motor access means detaching that panel without scratching it and reinstalling flush. That is where generalist services damage finishes.
Bosch Dishwasher Models We Repair
We service the full Bosch dishwasher lineup, from Benchmark and 800 Series down to 500 and 300 Series, in fully integrated and panel-ready formats.
-
Bosch Benchmark Series
Bosch's top tier, with CrystalDry, a flexible third rack, and the quietest operation. The service covers the zeolite drying system, PrecisionWash sensors, pumps, and control.
-
Bosch 800 Series
The most popular premium tier, with CrystalDry on many models and a MyWay third rack. Same core wash and drain diagnostics as the Benchmark.
-
Bosch 500 & 300 Series
PrecisionWash with AutoAir or PureDry drying rather than CrystalDry. Service covers the wash and drain systems, sensors, and control board.
-
Bosch Panel-Ready & Fully Integrated Models
Any Bosch designed for a custom cabinetry panel with controls on the top door edge. Panel removal and flush reinstallation are part of the job.
Common Bosch Dishwasher Problems We Diagnose and Fix
Most Bosch dishwasher calls trace back to draining, drying, flood protection, or a wash fault. Here is what each symptom usually means.
Not Draining (E24 or E25)
A Bosch that will not drain and shows E24 or E25 usually has a clogged drain filter, a blocked drain hose, or a failing drain pump. We check the filter first, since that clears it on many units without parts.
AquaStop Triggered, Machine Locked Out (E15)
E15 means AquaStop has detected water in the base pan and locked the machine. Clearing it means finding and repairing the leak, usually an internal hose, a pump seal, or a loose spray arm, then resetting the float switch. Drying the pan alone does not fix it.
Dishes Not Drying (CrystalDry)
On CrystalDry models, wet dishes usually mean the zeolite heating element or the fan that circulates the heated air has failed, not the cycle setting. Empty rinse aid also hurts drying. We test the CrystalDry system directly.
Dishes Coming Out Dirty
Poor cleaning usually means a clogged spray arm, a worn wash pump, low water temperature, a failed heating element, or the PrecisionWash sensor misreading soil. Hard-water scale in the nozzles is common here.
Will Not Start or Stops Mid-Cycle
A no-start or a cycle that quits partway usually traces to the door latch not engaging, a thermal fault, or a control problem. We check the latch and controls before assuming the board.
Leaking or E-Code on the Display
A leak traces to the door seal, a hose, or a cracked sump. An E-code narrows the fault to a system. Bosch E-codes overlap with Thermador on the shared BSH platform, and we read them against your exact model.

What is Bosch CrystalDry, and why are my dishes still wet?
CrystalDry is Bosch's drying technology, used on the 800 Series and Benchmark and shared with Thermador as StarDry. It uses a natural zeolite mineral that absorbs moisture from the wash cavity and releases it as heat, which dries the dishes, including plastics, without a traditional heating coil. When dishes come out wet on a CrystalDry model, the cause is usually the zeolite heating element or the fan that circulates the heated air, rather than the cycle you selected. Both are replaceable, and we test the CrystalDry system directly to confirm which failed. Empty rinse aid also reduces drying, so we check that first.
What does an E15 code mean on my Bosch dishwasher?
E15 on a Bosch dishwasher means the AquaStop flood-protection system has detected water in the base pan and shut the machine down. The lockout is doing its job, keeping a leak from flooding your kitchen, but it will not clear until the leak is fixed. The water usually comes from an internal hose, a failed pump seal, a cracked sump, or a spray arm that has come loose. We find and repair the leak, then reset the float switch and valve. Tilting the unit to drain the pan, a common online suggestion, empties the pan but leaves the leak, so E15 comes right back.
Why won't my Bosch dishwasher drain, and what is E24?
A Bosch dishwasher that will not drain and shows E24, or sometimes E25, has a blocked drain path. The most common cause is a clogged drain filter at the bottom of the tub, followed by a kinked or blocked drain hose, a clogged air gap, or a failing drain pump. We start with the filter, which resolves it on many units with no parts at all, then check the hose and pump. Because Bosch shares the BSH platform with Thermador, the drain path and E-codes are similar across both brands.
Are Bosch and Thermador dishwashers the same to repair?
Largely, yes. Bosch and Thermador dishwashers are both built on BSH's platform, so they share many internal components, the E-code system, and features like the zeolite drying that Bosch calls CrystalDry and Thermador calls StarDry. The differences are in the control software, the trim, and some feature calibration. For a repair, that means the diagnostic approach and many parts carry over between the two, which is part of why we can service both quickly and accurately.
